This autumn, I've been trying to explain to my two year old daughter why it's actually okay that all the leaves are falling off the trees in our backyard. Maybe that's why so much of my favourite autumn music is introspective and reflective. It's the sound of everyone turning inwards, away from the hustle of the summer months. So I try and take comfort in finding a rhythm that will carry me through the winter. I realise I'm starting to settle into the patterns of the year. When autumn comes around, that's when I realise that the year is no longer new. It's cliched, but I love the falling leaves, the streaks of red and orange through the trees.
